Obstetrics and Gynecology, commonly known as Ob/Gyn, is a medical specialty focused on women's health. Obstetricians provide care for women and their babies during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum recovery. Gynecologists specialize in the reproductive health of women, addressing issues related to menstruation, menopause, hormonal changes, and more. Our practice emphasizes the development of healthy habits in adolescents, supports patients through family planning, pregnancy, and childbirth, and continues to provide care through menopause and into later life stages.

What Does an Obstetrician and Gynecologist Do?

Obstetricians do not focus on treating diseases per se. They are specialized in managing complications associated with pregnancy and childbirth. An obstetrician is dedicated to overseeing the health care of women during pregnancy, labor, and delivery and is equipped to handle emergencies. Obstetricians provide care for women regardless of whether their pregnancy is normal or high-risk.

A gynecologist, on the other hand, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the female reproductive system and breasts. They may offer long-term care to women and frequently serve as primary care physicians.
