Dr. Setri Steven Fugar is a highly experienced Interventional Cardiologist with over several years of experience in both general and interventional cardiology. Dr. Fugar completed his Internal Medicine Residency at John H Stroger Hospital of Cook County followed by a Cardiology Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. He then pursued an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is recognized for his excellent communication skills and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, both locally and internationally, and is actively involved in local hospitals and committees of the American Heart Association.

He holds multiple certifications, including the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiology Certification, Interventional Cardiology, and state medical licenses in Indiana, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Dr. Fugar has held several professional positions, including Non-invasive Cardiologist at Northwest Porter Regional Hospital and Medical Officer at INTERNATIONAL SOS, Goldfields Clinic, Tarkwa, Ghana. Dr. Fugar currently serves as an Interventional Cardiologist at Northwest Health, Cardiology Department, La Porte and Porter Indiana, where he also holds the position of Medical Director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at Laporte Hospital.

He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Association of Black Cardiologists, and the American College of Physicians. He has served as an invited reviewer for several prestigious journals, including the Journal of American Heart Association and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Fugar has an extensive list of peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, contributing significantly to the field of cardiology. He has a significant background in performing a wide range of interventional procedures and is actively involved in healthcare research, with over 3,500 citations. He has mentored several fellows and residents, providing career and research guidance to individuals at institutions such as Yale University and Ohio State University.

Dr. Fugar has received several honors, including the RUSH-ICARE award and recognition for the Best Clinical Research and Best Quality Improvement Project.
